College students from the Faculty of Wonderful Arts showcased their newest designs on the annual trend present throughout Homecoming Week. Via a partnership with FISLL, a sportswear model, based by former NBA participant Allan Houston, a program gave 4 college students the chance to design FISLL gear with Howard marks.
College students Gabrielle Manion, Brenda Dubois, Jared Belfield, and Calyn Coleman designed a varsity jacket, jean jacket, flight jacket, and bell backside pants, and two showcased their designs on the annual trend present. Their merchandise is obtainable on the market within the Howard bookstore.
This 12 months’s present was divided into two sub-themes: Elevated punk, impressed by the 2013 Met Gala theme, “Chaos to Couture.” It elevated basement “do-it-yourself” kinds with eclectic and chic vibrance with touches of grunge model. The second theme was “America’s Downside,” impressed by the 2019 Met Gala theme, “Camp: Notes on Vogue.” It mixed sensibility and over-the-top, exaggerated material, presenting excessive instances of trend. “The response from the viewers was explosive and ecstatic,” says professor Mikki Taylor. “It was superb. I couldn’t be extra happy with the style designer college students – they’re all shining stars.”
